St. 路加福音的演讲 & Debate is an award-winning member of the National Debate Coaches Association and National Speech & Debate Association, representing the Hudson Valley District. During the September-June season, St. 卢克的 competes in the New York City-based American Debate League, and national circuit competitions in Public Forum Debate, 政策辩论, 以及演讲事件.
作为St的成员. 卢克的辩论队, students engage in different styles of debate with a focus on parliamentary debate. While learning to argue both sides of issues, debaters develop confidence, 开放的思想, 出色的演讲技巧, listening and note-taking skills, and the ability to think and organize ideas quickly. Members compete throughout the school year at tournaments hosted by local leagues and universities.
St. 卢克的 Upper and 中学 辩论队s are been very successful. Our debaters have been invited to the World Individual Debating and Public Speaking 锦标赛 in Hong Kong and South Africa.

St. 路加福音’s is committed to its award-winning 辩论队s and has a dedicated debate coach: David Levin. In addition to overseeing the Upper and 中学 teams, he also teaches debate courses and works with the School’s Center for 领导.

SLS Debate students participate in the Yale Invitational on September 29, 2023. 萨曼莎嘉宝 '25 and Dash Gilrain-Lennon '25 reached the round of 32 and earned their first bid to the 2024 Tournament of Champions. -
SLS Debate competed at the New York City Invitation on October 13, 2023, held at Bronx High School of Science. 萨曼莎嘉宝 '25 and Dash Gilrain-Lennon '25 reached the round of 32 and earned their second bid to the Tournament of Champions. Maeve Welch '26 earned a speaker award, ranking 12 out of 332 speakers. -
